Slowly it starts, steadily it increases
My mind and heart are at war if it brings a washing relief
Or a grueling retreat
One drop at a time my mask is washed away
And soon I am revealed by the rain
Caught off guard I lower my head,
I don't know if I can hold my head high in the rain
It may mask my tears but also wets my fears
Until they rush out into the storm causing thunderings
That every soul can hear
Now alone with no mask and secrets revealed
I start to walk in the heart drenching rain
And let my feet guide me where they may
Cold and wet I look to the sky
And ever so slightly see a break in the clouds
That reminds me there is still someone worth fighting for
That moment will carry me on until the next rain comes
Eventually leading me to the time when no matter how dark
The sun will always shine in my life
